Privacy Policy
Shotline is a video editor in your browser. This policy explains what we collect when you use shotline.in and its API, why we collect it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use your videos for advertising.
1. What we collect
Your account
- Your name and email address, and your password (stored only as a secure hash) if you sign up with email.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID.
- Your settings and preferences, including the editing preferences and notes you ask Cue (our editing assistant) to remember.
Your content
- Files you upload or import (videos, audio, images, fonts, Lottie animations), your projects and templates, and the videos you export.
- Things made for you at your request: transcripts and captions, voiceovers, sound effects, music, dubbed audio, AI images, and Cue's suggested edits.
- Your conversations with Cue, saved per project so you can come back to them.
How you use Shotline
- Usage counts that plan limits depend on (for example render minutes, transcription minutes and assistant messages), and records of renders and other jobs.
- What you do with Cue Director's draft edits (applied, discarded, undone, exported, and any rating or note you give), used to improve its future edits.
- Technical data for security and reliability: IP address, browser and device type, sign-in sessions and error logs.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in (secure, HTTP-only session cookies) and one to remember your light or dark theme. We don't use advertising cookies.
2. How we use it
- To provide Shotline: store your files and projects, edit and export your videos, and run the features you use.
- To run AI features you ask for, such as captions, Cue, Cue Director, AI Reframe, voiceovers and generated images, music and sound effects.
- To apply plan limits, prevent abuse and keep your account secure.
- To improve Shotline. For example, Cue Director turns patterns across its past edits (such as which parts people keep or remove) into general editing rules. Your own videos and requests are never shown to other users, and personal tastes it learns from your edits are used only for your own edits.
- To reply when you contact us, and to tell you about important changes to the service.
3. Who processes your data
We use these service providers to run Shotline. Each one only gets what it needs for its part:
- Amazon Web Services (Mumbai, India): hosting, file storage and video rendering.
- MongoDB Atlas: our database (accounts, projects, usage).
- Google Cloud Vertex AI (Gemini): Cue, Cue Director (including watching your footage to plan an edit), AI Reframe decisions and AI image generation.
- ElevenLabs: transcription for captions, voiceovers and voices, audio clean-up, dubbing, sound effects and music.
- Pixabay and GIPHY: stock media and GIF search. They receive your search terms, not your files.
- LottieFiles: when you import an animation from a LottieFiles link.
- Google: Google Sign-In, and Google Drive when you choose to import a file from it.
- Our payment provider, if you buy a paid plan. We don't see or store your full card details.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or of Shotline, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (with this policy still applying).
4. Google user data
When you connect your Google account, Shotline accesses only:
- Google Sign-In: your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID. We use them to create your Shotline account and sign you in.
- Google Drive (only if you use Drive import): the specific files you pick in Google's file picker. We download them read-only to add them to your Shotline media. We don't browse, change or delete anything in your Drive.
We don't sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or let people read it except where you ask us to for support, where it's needed for security, or where the law requires it. We don't use it to train general AI models. Shotline's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can remove Shotline's access at any time from your Google account permissions.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is open. When you delete a file or project, it's removed from our storage. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and content within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (such as payment records) and backups, which expire on a rolling basis. Exported videos and AI-generated files live in your media until you delete them.
6. Security
Shotline uses HTTPS everywhere, stores passwords only as secure hashes, keeps sessions in HTTP-only cookies, and limits access to your data to the systems and people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us at once if you think your account has been compromised.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access, download or delete your files and projects at any time in the app.
- Correct your name and preferences in Settings, and clear the notes Cue remembers.
- Ask us for a copy of your personal data, to correct it, or to delete your account, by emailing 04ritikpatel@gmail.com.
- Withdraw consent you've given (for example by disconnecting Google), without affecting what was done before.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or the EU and UK GDPR, including the right to complain to your data protection authority. We'll respond to requests within 30 days.
8. International transfers
Our main servers are in India. Some of our providers process data in other countries (for example the United States). When that happens we rely on their contractual and legal safeguards for international transfers.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. See also our Terms of Service.
